I am looking to buy. How does the property searching and inspecting process work?

Good question.

Realestate.com.au and Domain.com.au will be your new best friends.

On these websites you’ll be able to filter down to your specific requirements to assist with your property search.

When you see properties of interest, the only thing left to do is to go and check them out.

And finally, here comes the fun part.

Open homes and inspections.

Tip – Planning a structured list by location and viewing times for Saturday opens at least the night before will help ensure you can visit as many open homes as possible and really gauge the market.

Arm yourself with a good coffee, your requirements list and relevant questions to ask the agents about what you would like to know about each property you’re interested in.

Collect property brochures from each place you visit to compare homes at the end of the day.

This will also make for an easier process of elimination.

Can’t make it to an inspection time?

Speak with the selling agent to see if you can arrange another time to view.

If you’ve decided on a specific area or suburb, talking to local agents may also help.

If you’re happy to give details of your requirements and price range to agents, they should be able to keep you informed of anything they already have on the market, properties coming onto the market or anything they have off market.

Now just keep visiting as many open homes as you can until you feel like you’ve found the one.
