I want to sell my place, now what?

Once you’ve decided to sell your place, walk around the whole house, both inside and outside, and ask yourself,

How much of this stuff do I want to take with me?

Why? Because now is the perfect time to declutter and clean the whole place up.

Everywhere from cupboards and closets to sheds and garages.

It gives you the opportunity to start fresh.

A chance to clear out any unwanted items and to leave any old and rather forgetful memories behind.

Tip – Instead of just throwing things out, why not consider selling any unwanted items on sites like eBay or Gumtree or even have a garage / yard sale? It will put extra cash in your pocket, save you money on moving and tipping fees, will mean less for you to set up or store at your new place and most importantly, give the property more space and room to show off to buyers.

Tip – Anything that you don’t want to sell, consider donating to St Vincent de Paul (Vinnies) or the Salvation Army (The Salvos) as they can usually pick up items that are in good, useable, sellable condition.

A good rule of thumb to use before clearing anything out is this;

Have I used it in the last 12 months?

Will I use it in the next 12 months?

If you answered no to both, ask yourself, do you really need it?
