Many years ago, buying an investment property was mostly only reserved for high income earners, people that had built up significant equity in their home or people that had enough cash to put down a deposit to buy an investment property.
It usually came after they had already purchased and settled into their own home and were looking for something more.
These days, investment properties are bought by anyone with enough knowledge and information on how, where, why and what to buy.
This includes people that don’t even own their own home.
These investors are known as ‘rentvestors’.
Rentvesting essentially means renting where you want to live, say in a location that best suits your needs and lifestyle, while purchasing a property or properties as investments.
Rentvesting became more popular as rising costs for properties in capital cities skyrocketed making it harder for first time buyers to get into the market, leaving them with a more feasible option of purchasing more affordable properties as investments to help them secure their financial future.
